Thank you for your interest in being a coach in the Metro PAL Youth Soccer League (MPYSL). In order to ensure our kids have an enjoyable season, and to keep all coaches abreast of rule changes, MPYSL holds a mandatory clinic for all new and returning head coaches and assistant coaches each year. Each volunteer wishing to participate as a head or assistant coach must attend only one of these three (3) hour clinics.
MPYSL also requires all prospective coaches (head or assistant) to be Live Scanned by the authorities in their respective city (San Jose, Santa Clara, Milpitas). Each city has their own requirements for this fingerprinting and background check process, so please contact your district commissioner for more details.
For coaches in any of the four San Jose districts, we will have a fingerprinting station at the Coaches Clinics for your convenience. Get it all done in one stop at no cost to you. If you cannot make this clinic, you will have to make arrangements for fingerprinting at the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office. There is a $10 cost to do this payable at the time of fingerprinting.
Coaches clinics will be held at the following locations:
- July 11-SJ @ PAL TAB Bldg.
- July 25-SC- SCU Leavey Center
- Aug 8-MP-Zanker Elementary School-1585 Fallen Leaf Drive. MP, 95035
Clinics will be in a classroom setting with the following agenda:
- Photos
- Introduction to MPYSL
- MPYSL Philosophy
- MPYSL Age Specific Rules and Rule Updates
- Procedures
- Forms
- Interacting with Referees
- Q&A
- Assessment
Coaches licenses will be issued to district commissioners for distribution to coaches upon successful completion of one of these clinics and confirmation of completion of Live Scan.
