Local Soccer Scene

Soccer weekends like this weekend in the Local Soccer Scene were made up special for Soccer enthusiasts.  The fact remains that if you truly love the game of soccer and live in the  Local Soccer Scene of San Jose area, you could not asked for a better weekend than the First Soccer Weekend of June.  48 Women's Teams entered the 32 Annual Kelly Cup, Districts of CYSA held their final season tournaments in the Spring District Cup for boys & girls  players 8-17, the SJ Earthquakes played an away game in Dallas as well as Real San Jose played in Oregon.  The first soccer weekend of many more busy weekends ended with the evening game at Buckshaw stadium as the FC Gold Pride took on a host of Local Soccer Scene players in the Chicago Red Stars.  Hopefully if you were not tired from all the other games prior to the last game of the weekend you took your seats just in time for a nail biter.  Could have had a different ending but the results pale in comparison to being a part of the Local Soccer Scene.

Last weekend was a win of sorts with only one loss from our Local Soccer Scene.  FC Gold Pride pulled off a win and a shutout, NPSL Real San Jose opened the season with a 1-0 victory.  CPSA Los Tigres also got into the act as they flew past Condordia in a match down at De Anza College.  Our San Jose Earthquakes had a tough Saturday evening with a gruelling 1-0 loss to CD Chivas.  This weekend and the next few weekends might be difficult to find a game at the Pro level as the EQ's and FC Gold Pride will not be at home until May 24, 2009.  What you can find is a good soccer match up at Yerba Buena High School between visiting Bay Area Ambassadors and Real San Jose a Local Soccer Scene exclusive.

Seems like you have dig deep into the Local Soccer Scene the past few weekends to watch live games at a good performance level.  This is where the Local Soccer Scene across the country needs improvement in maintaining an entertaining and technically advanced soccer product.  I mean no disrespect to any team or player that resides in the Local Soccer Scene.  However, where are we at as a soccer community is facing the facts as we know it with our current state of soccer abilities.  The Local Pro Scene for the men are looking for answers to improving their current situations, while the women are different competitors at home but will face the Southern California team which owns the lead with the Sol winning at home against the Pride.  The teams face each other four times this season.  Lets see how they do at home this weekend at Buckshaw Stadium.  The Quakes will travel to face the evil orange Dynamo in Houston.  The only win this season came at home against the old San Jose team now in Houston.  March 28 seems like a long time ago but wasn't that long to forget about what it feels like to score 3 goals in one game.  I hope the Ultras or the Casbah make it to Houston to add a little Black and Blue to the Orange crowd.

Local Soccer Scene aired the first special Local Soccer Scene NPSL Game of the week on Thursday May 21, 2009 at 1:30 pm CreaTV San Jose Comcast Channel 15.  Next airing will be on Saturday 6:00 am, Sunday 12:00 am.  Vern Glenn, Jeff Carlisle and yours truly bringing local soccer action from Yerba Buena High School between Bay Area Ambassadors and Real San Jose.  This was the home opener for the Real San Jose team.  If you were not able to view the full game on CreaTV, take a look at the NPSL section of the website for the first half.  Both teams will be playing this Saturday get out to their game.  More info read more.
