August 15, 2009 LOS ANGELES -

The Associated Press had reported that  Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan tested positive for swine flu, although the team is optimistic he can play tonight. SI.com said Donovan learned of the diagnosis Thursday, the day after he played the whole game in the United States' 2-1 loss at Mexico in a World Cup qualifier.

Donovan is not infectious, Galaxy Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena told the Los Angeles Times. Arena said Donovan is believed to have contracted the virus from two Galaxy staff members who came down with it during last weekend's game at New England. The team's chiropractor and administrator have both returned to work, Pearson said.

Donovan may not be on the San Jose Local Soccer Scene anymore but it's an interesting story non the less for a fallen Quake.  There are many San Jose Earthquakes fans that felt he was swine to begin with after leaving the beloved Quakes for the dreaded evil Los Angles team.  This is serious stuff though and hope Donovan is fully recovered for next season as San Jose Earthquakes fans love to beat LA.
